I need to know all the processors that the Poweredge 1850 supports. I am particularly interested to know if it supports the Paxville MP Dual cores @800mhz that has Intel VT. It has the socket 604, and from my understanding the 1850 supports the Paxville DP series. (no intel VT) Please advise, thanks...

Re: Bios update for VT on 1850 But I am correct in thinking that the Xeon chips themselves support VT, and all that is required is a bios update for the PE1850 to be able to do VT?? Wonder if anyone with Dell insider knowledge has any idea if this will ever happen.

Feb 27, 2009 · Your CPU needs to support Intel VT Technology. The PowerEdge 1850s had a couple different lines of processors. I have some of the earlier 1850s that do not have processors with Intel VT Support. Some of the later ones do support VT.

Feb 21, 2010 · I have a (non-VT capable) PowerEdge 1850 that took an install of ESXi 4.0 U1 (Dell Version) like a champ. ... IOmega, Buffalo, etc have small devices that do support NFS. I have actually tried an IOmega Store Center device and for light VMs it worked very well. I have seen it with 2 x 500GB drives for less than $200 and it is on the VMware HCL.

Jan 14, 2008 · This server was sold both with and without VT enabled CPU's but I think the 3.06 CPU's where all EM64T (but I am not posative and its been a while)... Alos remember that after changing the VT BIOS setting the server must be powered off compleatly and then back on for the changes to take effect.
