Jun 06, 2015 · Liferay IDE Support. Liferay MVC is inbuild portlet framework provided by Liferay. It’s supported by Liferay IDE. You can create Liferay MVC Portlet in Liferay IDE or Liferay Developer Studio. Liferay IDE currently does not supports creating Spring MVC Porltet out of the box.

Jul 06, 2009 · Portlet events (new in Portlet 2.0) are partially supported: a Vaadin application can catch a Portlet event and respond to it, but any UI updates made won't show up until the browser window is refreshed. a Vaadin application can only generate Portlet events in response to another event.

The request comes into MainServlet of the portal container and the portlet bridge serves as some sort of adapter for Portlet. It is really complicated thing to explain, but I was using both these "bridge" techniques for a pretty long time and what Struts offers to support portlets cannot be even remotely compared to what spring-portlet-mvc came up with.
