The troop has been active in Southeast Portland, Oregon since 1917 (except for a few years during WWII). Over 150 scouts since 1930 from Troop 24 have earned the rank of Eagle, the highest rank in scouting. As a boy-led troop, the scouts of Troop 24 have rotating, elected boy leaders.
