Abstract. Porous alumina as single tubes and as a multihole structure with controlled properties has been prepared. It is shown that the porous structure of these supports can be controlled without burning out additives but by a variation of the ratio between the main alumina component (α-Al 2 O 3) and aluminium hydroxide (binder) in the extrusion masses and thermal treatment conditions.Cited by: 26

We designed a scaffold-like porous titanium nitride (TiN) nanotube (NT) as a catalyst support for Pt to facilitate the oxygen reduction reaction. Bulk titanium nitride, which is known as an electrically conductive material, is compatible with other metals. As the size of TiN particles decreases, however, they lose their intrinsic high electrical conductivity, due to a series of nanoparticle ...Cited by: 23

Aug 25, 2014 · Carbon plays a dual role as a catalyst or a catalyst support for chemical and enzymatic biomass transformation reactions due to its large specific surface area, high porosity, excellent electron conductivity, and relative chemical inertness. Advantageously, carbon materials can be prepared from residual biomass, an attractive property for decreasing the so-called “carbon-footprint” of a ...Cited by: 232
ThruPore’s innovation was developing a proprietary formulation and manufacturing process for making a highly porous synthetic carbon material. The picture above shows the porous material and structure, ideal for a catalyst support, as the pores enable more uniform metal dispersion.

A catalyst device comprises a porous catalytically active inorganic membrane, means for presenting a fluid reactant to a first surface of the membrane and means for recovering a fluid reaction product from the second surface of the membrane. The membrane is preferably an anodic aluminum oxide membrane with a deposit of catalytically active material present within the pores, preferably ...Cited by: 26
