Sep 03, 2019 · The ceiling joists should be spaced at 300/400mm centres. no need to add noggins as 12.5mm plasterboard has enough strength but should be nailed every 8 inches right up the edge of the ceiling.

Apr 26, 2007 · Re: Framing Support for Drywall Ceiling Thank you both for your comments. I will certainly be supporting the 2x4's at least twice from the joist above and will use 1/2 inch drywall as recommended. In addition, a 2x6 spans the room at midpoint and will be used as well.
