Is current version of Pidgin got any improvements with SIP voice call support? Support for VoIP and SIP in Pidgin is very useful for me, and now I must use other clients that support xmpp and sip simultaneously. Please post here any plans or roadmap for adding SIP calls support in Pidgin!

All: I must reiterate that this is not the appropriate place to argue about if or why pidgin should have voice/video support. The very existence of this ticket, created *by* a pidgin developer, indicates that the developers are not opposed to it. ... Dear all, I just tested Pidgin on Windows Vista : I found no options for webcam/audio calls, even with XMPP. I understood that VV is in development, and I am willing to help by testing and reporting bugs. Is there a Pidgin wiki page explaining how to instal this unstable vv-version ?

As far as I know you need the skype client installed as well as pidgin. Pidgin then uses the so's containing the closed protocol from skype and the encryption that way. I think I once had chat working from pidgin on skype. Never the camera / mic. – Nikolaj Hansen Sep 4 '18 at 14:43

Mar 01, 2015 · I remember before also I use to use pidgin with Ubuntu (back to 2010-11) and use to make voice and video calls. But now I am not able to find the option. So if anyone kindly help me to setup properly the voice & video call in pidgin, it will be very helpful.
