Oct 15, 2014 · The readme "Device Dupport.htm", included in the release notes zip and also existed in installed MPLAB program files, contains all the devices supported by pickit3. However, some Pickit3 supported device may not supported within the main MPLAB GUI and only supported by the Pickit3 command line interface utility.

At the moment, not all PIC devices are supported, but the firmware is continually being upgraded to add support for new devices. Clones. PICkit 2 has been an interesting PIC programmer from Microchip. It can program most PICs and debug most of the PICs (as of May-2009, only the PIC32 family is not supported for MPLAB debugging).

Do not use the "programmer-to-go" button when there is no image in the OLIMEX PIC-KIT3 or MICROCHIP PIC-KIT3 because that might put your microcontroller in an irrecoverable state. We have tested the mentioned scenario and we can confirm that it destroys the PIC32 chips (using both our and the original Microchip PICKIT3).

Apr 08, 2010 · While PICkit 3 does support PIC32 debugging, I'd highly recommend either an MPLAB ICD 3 or a REAL ICE for PIC32 debugging. The speed is well worth the extra money. Also, the ICD 3 and REAL ICE support features like APPIN/APPOUT support that won't be available on the PICkit 3 due to hardware limitations.
