    Sep 21, 2018 · GeorgePauley I'm pretty sure MPLAB X has never supported PICkit 2. You have to go (way) back to MPLAB IDE 8.92 to use PICkit 2. MPLAB X will supports PK3 and PK4. The PICkit2 seems to work with MPLABX 4.05 and a PIC16F690.

    Mar 04, 2013 · The PICKit 2 can program the 16F84 just fine, integrating debugging, I've never done with the 84, though. Perhaps the new MPLAB only supports programmers that can also debug the PIC? I know there's some reason I've not upgraded MPLAB in quite some time.
