Mar 22, 2014 · My MP4 videos were shown in Picasa without sound, K-Lite fixed that for me. K-Lite also allowed me to use the original MTS files of my Sony DSC-HX60V camera in Picasa. To fix the thumbnails, moving files was not needed: I just updated them via the folder context menu in Picasa.

Because Ubuntu comes with support for .mov files via GStreamer but that does not mean Wine will take advantage of what Ubuntu can do. They are separate systems. That means you need to install some sort of codec support to be able to play .mov files inside your Wine system that includes Picasa.
