The Control Panel applet is the only way I can tell the drivers that I have an actual AGEIA PhysX card and to use that card instead of my GPU for PhysX effects. You are probably wondering why I would want to do that, since at this point in time the AGEIA PhysX card is obsolete.

It enables enhanced physics in games that have been designed to support hardware-accelerated PhysX. Which graphics cards can accelerate NVIDIA PhysX? All GeForce 8 series graphics cards and above with at least 256MB of local onboard graphics memory and at least 32 cores will be able to accelerate NVIDIA PhysX.

Jan 09, 2020 · PhysX was bought by Nvidia. And the swapped out the code to get of running on these GPU's. Later (a bit) as GPU's became powerfull enoigh to do both graphics and compute introduced CUDA as the accelartion platform for PhysX. Quote some time thereafter they reincluded a CPU path for PhysX, as support by devs was kinda lacking. Lol, and as or ...Reviews: 10

The article’s intention is not to compare PhysX-enabled games, but to simply show how setting your older graphics card to solely process PhysX can affect different games. For example – look at GTA V, a game with no intention of PhysX when being created, yet it had a higher average FPS with the dedicated PhysX processor.Author: Chris Jolliffe

Without accurate physics simulation even the most beautiful game feels static and lifeless. PhysX taps into the power of NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX GPUs to create incredible effects and scenes filled with dynamic destruction, particle based fluids, and life-like animation. Reviewers attest, games like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Batman: Arkham Origins, Borderlands 2, and Metro: Last Light ...

Without a PhysX card, the line jumps wildly all over the place, routinely making leaps of 50 fps or more in a single split second. With an added PhysX card, the graph has the same general shape - the same peaks and troughs - but with much less variation. Though the overall FPS is actually pretty similar, it's a much smoother ride.

Nvidia started enabling PhysX hardware acceleration on its line of GeForce graphics cards and eventually dropped support for Ageia PPUs. PhysX SDK 3.0 was released in May 2011 and represented a significant rewrite of the SDK, bringing improvements such as more efficient multithreading and a unified code base for all supported platforms.Developer(s): Nvidia Corporation, (2008-present), Ageia, …
