Here are the official limiitations: "PSD limits pixel dimensions to 30,000 x 30,000 and max size to 2GB. PSD files are limited to 2 Gig because of the file format design and compatibility with other applications. That really cannot be changed.

Oct 04, 2009 · I was just on the Adobe website and it says that even for CS3, which I am using, the maximum pixel dimensions PS can support are 300,000 x 300,000 which is well within the range of this image at full length (110,000 x 27,000).

there are pixel dimensions you will not be able to save as psd, png or even PDF with PhotoShop (even with PhotoShop CC 2018). I think, the limit is 30,000 pixels in one dimension. Two reliable formats remain: TIFF (placing) and PSB (drag from Finder or Explorer). This all is with PhotoShop CS6 and InDesign CS6.

For artists working with very high resolution images it would be extremely helpful to increase PHOTOSHOP'S PSB maximum file size, which is currently 2G. Many artists are now printing VERY large-size, hi-res images and the 2G limit is getting quite annoying.
