The presence of a peer support system in a school offers a framework within which bystanders can play an active part in challenging behaviour that the majority report to be distasteful. It would seem logical to mobilise peer support schemes to empower those bystanders who are willing to take the risk of expressing their dislike of bullying and their desire to support the victim in some way.
