Feb 13, 2007 · I am trying to build Pango with Cairo support on Linux (Fedora Core 4). I already built and installed Cairo in my machine. Pkg-config for cairo (just reinstalled) does not find fontconfig. pkg-config --cflags cairo Package fontconfig was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `fontconfig.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable Package 'fontconfig', required by 'cairo', not found Could that be a reason?

Quite probably gcc cannot locate the cairo library files installed. If your library files are not installed in some standard location (you may see /etc/ld.so.conf for a list) then you may need to specify the LD_LIBRARY_PATH shell variable before starting the make.

The definition of 'cairo_surface_write_to_png' is enclosed in an #if CAIRO_HAS_PNG_FUNCTIONS / #endif statement. This symbol will not be defined if cairo was not built with the png support. It may be because pkg-config didn't find the .pc file for libpng. Solution:
