Solved: I have a DV7-2277cl laptop with bios version F4.1. It does not have an option to enable VT support although the P7550 processor is supposed to - 774627

As far as pursuing this with HP is concerned, unless they mentioned VT support then there isnt much other than if you are within the 21 day return window, just return it and reorder with one which has VT support.

Actually, I already check the intel website before, and it said that P7550 has VT capability. And if I check with SecurAble, it say P7550 Hardware Virtualization is locked off (that mean it has the capabiltiy but locked off by external influence). I agree. Before I ordered my HP-DV3T I made sure I checked out the processor options and saw that the P7550 support VT-x. I checked and double checked the intel website for this specific feature. At the time, the website specified VT-x was supported, so I ordered my custom HP computer only to find it does not support VT-x.

What if the OP wishes to use an Open BIOS or even perhaps write his own which would include VT? He has bought this computer expecting the CPU to have VT support and it seems it doesn't. Here is a link showing Intel's own Processor Identification Utility reporting that a P7350 does not support VT. Please take a look for yourself.
