Oct 29, 2015 · It has nothing to do with Trim supported on the SSD or not: OSX can not see that at all. When there is no trim support, it just does not do anything (like on a HDD), if it is supported the SSD controller will use it. Do not use trim. And certainly not on the blacklisted SSDs, see my post above.

Jul 22, 2011 · Ever since the release of OS X 10.6.8, Apple has been selectively enabling the TRIM command for SSD's in OS X. This support continues on in Mac OS X Lion, as well as Mountain Lion, and even OS X Mavericks, but as many have noted, it only seems to work for Apple SSDs. Mar 21, 2011 · It boils down to this: if you have a SandForce drive, TRIM support is not as important because the drive does a good job on its own. If you use a different SSD, TRIM support is very beneficial, and we should all hope that OS X delivers full support for TRIM in the near future.
