May 22, 2008 · Dear MeakinS, Oracle never (or in the next few years) is going to withdraw the support form 9i. At this moment the version 9.2.0.8 is supported at 100%, all others prior versions 5,6,7,8, others 9i still and will receive support from metalink (TAR is not used any more, now is called SR - Service request) but "NO" will receive any new patch for a unknown bug.

In practice I managed to work with Oracle 9i using following configuration: SQL Developer 4.0.2.15 Java 1.7 Oracle JDBC driver ojdbc6.jar 11.2.0.3.0. On the latest SQL Developer (17.4.0.355) I managed to connect to 9i and execute sql queries but I got errors when tried to view stored procedures.

9.2.0.8 is the terminal release of 9i version of oracle. And 9i will be desupported Jul 2007. Thats the date when premier support ends. Meaning no bug fixes after that. But you have an option to buy extended support. And that goes till Jul 2010. The curent version is 10g R2 (10.2.0.2). And premier support for 10g R2 support will last till Jul 2010.

Dec 31, 2015 · Try the official node-oracledb with 11.2 client - it may actually work. But Oracle Database 9.2 is obsolete and isn't getting patches etc so I can't recommend using it. The support note no longer says 'supported' - it says 'was [supported]' There is a difference between 'supported' (as in telephone support & patches) and 'supported' (as in works).
