    Jul 24, 2010 · Hi, Oracle 8i is never intented to be used on Windows 7. Oracle will not support it. I think you have to look at virtualisation (Virtual Box, Virtual Pc, WMware), to get Oracle 8i installed on Win XP (or Win 2000/98).

    Nov 11, 2010 · Just same as your company we've been slack in upgrading and until now we are still using oracle 8i. I successfully installed 8i on a windows 7 workstation. After the fresh installation of windows 7 then i've installed Oracle 8i and it work. I don't know how did it happen. Try a fresh install of OS and then 8i. Goodluck.

    We luckily digged out an old Oracle 8i Client (version 8.1.7) and were able to connect successfully from Windows 7 (64bit) to the Oracle 8 database (version 8.0.5.0.0) using both SQL*Plus Worksheet and the ODBC driver. Hooray! Thanks Justin & TenG for the hints! Never thought that would work on a recent Windows version.
