2.6.16 OpenVZ series supports migration since 2.6.16-026test009.1 version. However in later versions a lot of fixes for checkpointing (hence migration) exist. Thus it's always recommended to use the latest kernel. 2.6.8 OpenVZ series doesn't support migration.
