OpenBSD/amd64 runs on AMD's Athlon-64 family of processors in 64-bit mode. It also runs on processors made by other manufacturers which have cloned the AMD64 extensions. Note that OpenBSD/i386 also runs on these processors, but in 32-bit mode. X Window System support is available for most graphics cards, using the X.Org server.

Mar 10, 2015 · I've never understood why anyone wouldn't just use OpenBSD if you're going to use a BSD. I'm sure there are reasons, there must be, but OpenBSD has a long history of having really great source code that's useful just about everywhere (hint: you're using OpenSSH almost assuredly on every linux box ever, and it's fantastic).

I want to make a OpenBSD 5.0 x64 desktop, mostly for learning OpenBSD, programing, web browsing. I have the option of using either nvidia (tnt, geforce 2, FX5200, FX6200) or ati (radeon 9200,9600,9800). The nvidia seems to have a better support, meanwhile the ati I've read that is "limited supported". Thanks.

Jun 29, 2014 · Does the OpenBSD support well AMD's APU hardware? Hello, ... nVidia & OpenBSD do not play well. You can search the archives both here & on the project's mailing lists to find countless stories of those trying to get stellar performance from their nVidia hardware, & frequently they don't. I know my laptop is anything but new (a bulky 2012-era Dell), but 6.1 was working perfectly before the upgrade. I doubt OpenBSD would simply drop hardware support on a dime (especially with no warning), so I'm concerned this is either a bug in the kernel, or some …Location: Bergen, Norway
