does it work in later IE versions if you set compatibility mode=IE7? (I normally hate compat mode, but Ie7 doesn't have any dev tools, so if it goes wrong in compat mode this might give you a change to use the IE8/9 dev tools to debug the problem. it's worth a try) – Spudley Jul 30 '13 at 10:58

Jul 22, 2014 · That sounds most likely an issue with the version of excanvas you are using. Take a look in the source code of explorercanvas and see if it's polyfilling .measureText() on the context prototype.. The master version in their svn trunk is.

Jan 17, 2012 · IE7 of all things. Anyway, jqPlot allows you to specify your axis as textual dates and interprets them, and handles them correctly (i.e. spacing and showing a sane number of ticks). The problem is that in Chrome the X label can be "2011-Dec-1" but in IE (7 and 9) that generates "Object doesn't support property or method 'getTime'".

It throws this error: Object doesn't support this property or method with no file or line information to tell you where it came from. This happens in a real version of IE7 only! It cannot be reproduced in ie7 browser mode or ie7 document mode. I had to download microsoft's ie7 virtual machine image in order to debug this. Works fine in 1.9.1.
