If you want to transfer your 3D models from 3dsMax or LightWave to Maya for rendering or animation, the OBJ file is a good choice. OBJ mainly supports polygon models, but not support animation, material properties, mapping paths, dynamics, particles, and other formats. Due to the convenience of OBJ format in data exchange, most 3D CAD software ...

Studio Supported Formats and Requirements

    https://docs.zap.works/studio/3d-models/supported-3d-formats/
Rigs and Animations. The .obj file format does not support animations. Muscle rigs are not supported. Animations should be linked to a bone rig, with a maximum of 256 bones per mesh. Bone weights should be normalized before export. Each vertex in the rig should have no more than 3 influences. Blend Shapes animations are not supported.

What is an OBJ File? OBJ files are used by Wavefront's Advanced Visualizer application to define and store the geometric objects. Backward and forward transmission of geometric data is made possible through OBJ files. Both polygonal geometry like points, lines, texture vertices, faces and free-form geometry (curves and surfaces) are supported by OBJ format.

Aug 24, 2017 · Using the file structure I’ve shown you should see something like this near the top of the file: mtllib ./Walk.mtl. Last but not least, we have the TimeFrame file itself. This is where the animation magic happens. For the simple walk cycle that makes up my example (it cycles the frames twice) the timeframe reads like so: 0.25 Walk1.obj 0.25 ...

Wavefront .obj file - Wikipedia

OBJ (or .OBJ) is a geometry definition file format first developed by Wavefront Technologies for its Advanced Visualizer animation package. The file format is open and has been adopted by other 3D graphics application vendors. The OBJ file format is a simple data-format that represents 3D geometry alone — namely, the position of each vertex, the UV position of each texture coordinate vertex ...Developed by: Wavefront Technologies

Jun 27, 2017 · So I've seen one or two threads on which file type people should use and most people have said to use FBX. Well I did some testing on a simple model from Google Sketch Up which revealed that out of all the file type I tested (OBJ, DAE, and FBX) that FBX had the biggest file size followed by DAE and then OBJ with the smallest file size.
