Generally if an SSD drive is presented to the WinPe boot environment as a standard hard drive then the Ghost executable will be able to create and restore a ghost disk image. In some drives a warning will be resented that a SSD drive has been detected and that the use of the -notrim switch should be used.

Jun 13, 2016 · After many years using a Norton Ghost boot disk to copy one partition to another, this doesn't work with my new computer. For the first time the motherboard connectors are SATA, both for the HDD and the DVD Drive. I boot up with the Ghost disk and get a message that no DVD/CD Drive can be found, and the process stops.

I suspect that you are running an old version of Ghost. I would suggest that you contact Norton Support to find out how to work around this issue. SATA drives do need special drivers (or revert them to IDE mode in the computer's bios but I don't know what will happen stability wise when you do) to run in DOS only.

Apr 11, 2008 · I have used ghost since Ingram Micro owned it. Ghost 2003 was the last version of the old ghost product. It added nice new features, but not very reliable. If you have the latest upgrade for Ghost 2003, it added support for SATA drives. The big disappointment was/is that it can't reliably backup to an external USB drive.2.7/5(49)
