Apr 01, 2011 · It's better to have AHCI, but between a choice between trim support on a slower IDE mode, versus no trim with AHCI, I'd still choose trim'd IDE mode over no-trim AHCI any day of the week, because I generally wont notice the missing features like NCQ/TQ, but I will notice the SSD's no-trim speed degradations over time.

Thanks for the screenshots, which verify what I have already supected: Your mainboard has an MCP61 chipset and your on-board NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller doesn't support AHCI at all. I recommend to use the generic MS IDE driver and no nForce SATA driver, because this way you will get TRIM support for your SSD.

Nearly all nForce SATA_IDE drivers do support the IDE mode, but only a very few of them do additionally support the AHCI mode. The nForce SATA_IDE driver v11.2.20.9, which I had attached, does support a lot of nForce SATA Controllers, which are running in IDE mode, and a few SATA Controllers (like your MCP89 one), which are running in AHCI mode.
