Apr 26, 2012 · Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches support only ERSPAN source sessions. Destination sessions are not supported in Nexus 5000 Switch. So in this document Nexus 7000 Switch is used as ERSPAN destination session to monitor the mirrored traffic from Nexus 5000 Switch.

Feb 09, 2012 · • All Cisco Nexus 5000 Series switches, including Cisco Nexus 5500 switches, support ERSPAN. • Cisco NX-OS Release 5.1(3)N1(1) supports an ERSPAN source session only; there is no support for an ERSPAN destination session. The Cisco Nexus 5000 Series switch hardware cannot deencapsulate an ERSPAN frame.

My intention was probably to configure a loopback address on the Nexus 7000 which the ERSPAN will terminate on. However, my problem is that I then need to get the copy of the packets from the ERSPAN loopback interface (terminating on the Nexus 7000) into a Vlan on the Nexus 5000.
