The off mode allows you to monitor VLANs by using the CISCO-VTP-MIB without having to run VTP. On Cisco Nexus 7000 Series devices, because VTP is a conditional service, its MIB is loaded only when the corresponding feature is enabled. The CISCO-VTP-MIB does not follow this convention.

Does a anyone know how to get a count of all configured (not necessarily used) VLANs on the Cisco Nexus 1000v virtual switch? The best we have been able to achieve so far is to get a list of VLANs which are in use. Any help would be appreciated!

Having problem pinging from Host A on ESX1 to Host B on ESX2. Each host are assigned the same port-profile. If I put 2 host's on the same ESX machine using the same port-profile, they are able to ping each other. Any ideas? n1kv-vsm# sh port-profile

Mar 26, 2013 · I don't know of a reason specifically. However, it generally seems like VTP is one of those things that Cisco is slowly going away from. I personally would prefer not to have VTP in most places that I would use a 5k, but I can see where some would be frustrated by it not being available (especially a version with fewer limitations).

Nexus 1000V does not require STP support, as the ESX host will always be an edge node. VTP is being considered, but nobody uses it today so we won’t be supporting it day 1. There are many features that are L3-4 aware including support for Access Control Lists (ACLs), QoS marking/queueing but forwarding is done only at L2.

VMware has decided to no longer offer Nexus 1000V through VMware sales or sell support for the Nexus 1000V through the VMware support organization as of Feb 2 nd 2015. We want to reiterate that this has NO IMPACT on the availability and associated support from Cisco for the Nexus 1000V running in a vSphere environment.
