NEdit has a long tradition of not adding dependencies, so if the core UTF-8 support could be done without them it would be a lot easier to get this into the standard distribution in the near future.

Nov 20, 2008 · Hi, I'm using nedit, and each time I execute it from the terminal, it gives me the annoying message of "utf8 locale not supported". I know it doesn't actually affect me using the program, but I would like to get rid of it. Thanks
