The Advanced Server version supports PAE (Physical Address Extension) which allows it to access up to 64GB of ram (Pentium Pro and newer CPUs actually have a 36-bit address bus and a 32-bit data bus) However the standard versions don't support PAE, so they can only address 4GB.
