Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) does not natively support dynamic disks. In the Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) environment, simple and spanned volumes are the only types of supported dynamic disks. The backup and restore considerations for dynamic disks apply in a VCS environment.

Once the MSCS cluster is configured, the Quorum can be moved from a physical disk resource that uses a Windows Basic disk to a SFW dynamic volume in a SFW Cluster dynamic disk group that is controlled by MSCS as a Volume Manager Disk Group (VMDg) resource. This article will detail the steps needed to perform the conversion.

Oct 29, 2010 · They mention dynamic disks not be supported on "single copy clusters". This makes sense because a CCR cluster uses replication instead of sharing the disks, so the disks are not truly part of the MSCS cluster. Still looking to get some sort of definitive answer from someone who has actually done this or someone from Microsoft.

vSphere 6.0 adds support for vMotion of MSCS clustered virtual machines. Pre-requisites for vMotion support: vMotion is supported only for a cluster of virtual machines across physical hosts (CAB) with pass-through RDMs. The vMotion network must be a 10Gbps Ethernet link. 1Gbps Ethernet link for vMotion of MSCS virtual machines is not supported.
