Jul 26, 2007 · I am running Kubuntu 6.10 & Amarok 1.44. I had libxine-extracodecs installed, and was unable to play MP3 files. I am currently able to play m4a files without any problems. When I start Amarok a box pops up that asks me if I want to install mp3 support, I say yes. If libxine-extracodecs is installed the box goes away and nothing happens.

Dec 11, 2008 · Which just leaves me with the need to make my point: F10 comes with Amarok 2. As usual mp3 is not supported but the old ways to fix this are obsolete. Working instructions for f10 was not so easy to find. The Fedora Wiki directs it's readers to buy a gstreamer plugin to enable mp3 playback.

Feb 13, 2010 · some update (I think) broke amarok mp3 support and I can't get it back. Amarok still plays other media formats and other players do play mp3. When I try to start amarok in terminal and start any mp3 file (from collection or filesystem) the output is this:

Jul 17, 2011 · Amarok runs perfectly in PC-BSD 8.2, and it was OK in Free BSD in previous releases I remember Amarok running OK in FreeBSD, at least in my system, previously to BSD 8.0. Now, using FreeBSD 8.0 there is the problem, long commented in these posts, that mp3 files cannot be played.

After the installation finished, all mp3 support had disappeared. Amarok used to play mp3 without problems after I for the first time had installed opensuse11.0. But now it it seems almost a mission impossible to get my mp3s played. I can use some help with finding the right packages for mp3 to be played again by Amarok.
