Nov 25, 2019 · ECC Unbuffered is what you need. Asrock and Asus support ECC on all AM4 boards I believe. MSI doesn't support ECC at all from what I know. Gigabyte only supports ECC on boads with higher layer counts which would include the X470 Gaming 7, and some older boards too like AX370 Gaming 5 and the K7. Some ITX boards might work too.

Jun 30, 2019 · In addition to ECC support, I need at least 6 SATA/SAS ports for storage using ZFS, plus one for separate OS drive. Although I had used amd64 architecture, namely on Supermicro motherboards, my research suggests that ARM based motherboards are more power efficient, and "FreeBSD/arm64 is on the path to becoming a Tier 1 architecture". Thus, I am ...

ECC Memory (Error-correcting code) Utilizing specialized memory chips on the RAM modules, it can eliminate small data discrepancies and prevent data corruption to ensure reliability for critical applications while helping to reduce system crashes.

Most motherboards and processors for less critical application are not designed to support ECC so their prices can be kept lower. Some ECC-enabled boards and processors are able to support unbuffered (unregistered) ECC, but will also work with non-ECC memory; system firmware enables ECC functionality if the ECC RAM is installed.
