If you have a huge site (e.g. Amazon), put up a notice that IE6 will only be supported until (insert drop date - e.g. March 31, 2009) after which, redirect all IE6 inbound requests to an upgrade page, offering links to Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome, or IE7 / IE8.

This is (a) insecure, since it doesn't get updates via windows update, and (b) pointless, since you have a random subset of DLLs that aren't guaranteed to play nice together, you have no way of knowing if IE6/IE7 will actually render your page that way, so you still have to go test your page in IE6, IE7 and IE8, thus you have saved no time.
