At the moment there are no browsers that actually care about the MAX_FILE_SIZE directive so it is pretty pointless. I suppose it does give you more granular control over max sizes on upload (as the poster above stated) rather than going with php.ini's, but personally I just ignore it, and you probably should too.

The reason for the limit is simple - major browsers did not support upload of bigger files than 2GB over internet and ASP in both 32bit/64bit IIS3-5 also accepts only 2GB files, no more. New browsers (Opera, Chrome) support bigger files, IIS6 and IIS7 suport 4GB limit in 32/64bit versions, so the 2.3 version of Huge ASP upload has the 4GB limit.

Is there a size limit int he word web app when you want to edit? When I click on Edit in browser I get the message: This document cannot be opened for editing. But only with my biggest file (47 MB), it work well with the smaller one.
