A client or service provider sets the MAPI_UNICODE flag on a method or function call and the implementation does not support Unicode. Setting MAPI_UNICODE indicates that character strings passed in as input are Unicode strings and that character strings passed back as output are expected to be Unicode strings.

Now, I'm trying to add Unicode support for it. I have implemented MapiSendMailW and have declared it into the "export" section of the DLL, so that MAPI DLL stub could see that it exports MapiSendMailW and is thus Unicode. However, this Unicode MapiSendMailW function of my DLL is never called. The ANSI version, MapiSendMail, is called instead.

May 25, 2006 · I’m working on an Exchange gateway that needs to support Unicode MAPI. The message I get from Exchange’s MTS_OUT queue allow me to GetProps as Unicode, but our gateway creates an intermediate MSG file using StgCreateDocfile & OpenIMsgOnIStg, and if I specify the unicode flag with that, it fails with MAPI_E_UNKNOWN_FLAGS.

Mar 21, 2011 · Is there a separate MAPI CDO package for UNICODE support? However using our MAPI client application we are able to successfully logon and access any mailbox/mailstore (with Unicode char name) and even access Unicode data in it. The problem we see is ONLY when the exchange server is localized and installed on localized windows OS.
