Mar 24, 2018 · I tried MakeMKV yesterday, version 1.12.0 license type=freeware, on windows 10 home. It seemed to work great making one mkv file but it has no menus and as far as i can tell none of the extra features on the DVD. I have an LG blu-ray WH14NS40 drive in my pc, and the backup button in MakeMKV v1.12.0 was always grayed out.

Dec 21, 2015 · Since MKV and MP4 have more player support, they support a variety of codecs inside them, and their specifications support menus (MKVToolNix source code explicitly supports muxing DVD VOBButtons, which can be demuxed from DVDs with DVDMenuXtractor), I thought I'll try them.

Feb 15, 2013 · It's not possible. mp4/mkv/avi doesn't support any dvd menus. But you can rip to an iso. And play it with VLC media player and the menu will work. The way I accomplished something similar was to rip the entire dvd to a folder, locate the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and make a shortcut.

Aug 06, 2017 · Not likely to happen as long as QT does not natively support either AC3 or the MKV file container. Since the content is already in H264/AC3, is there a simple way to make it playable by iTunes/ATV2? There are many flavors of H.264.

Oct 15, 2015 · The playback stutters but the menus and 5.1 sound works. Converting to .mkv files with MakeMKV, Handbrake and DVD Converter Professional, I end up with a file that does not give 5.1 sound, menus or even chapters with any versions of the firmware.
