Bug 176 – Ogg Vorbis support out of the box - Maemo

    https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=176
Let me repeat my proposal; clone to bug so that we have: 1) Ogg vorbis support 2) Ogg vorbis support out of the box Both bugs would be identical (same number of votes), the first one would be closed as FIXED in Maemo 5, and the second one would be kept open for Maemo 6 (or later).

Ogg support is a simple package for adding support for Ogg related codecs to Fremantle. The Fremantle already includes mime types for all of these and the Speex audio codec, Ogg Support just slightly reorders them. Ogg Support can be installed from the Fremantle Extras repository. Or see Maemo Downloads for single click install. Project page.

Bug 7413 – Cover art not shown for Ogg Vorbis files - Maemo

    https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7413
(In reply to comment #4) > CC'ing Tuomas. > Tuomas, do you know if this is something that ogg-support should/could handle, > or a tracker issue? Unfortunately I don't know how this should work. My wild guess is that the tracker-extractor-vorbis (installed as a dependency for ogg-support) should somehow read the cover art from the meta information of the vorbis file.

Mogg provides "Ogg Vorbis"-support for maemo: Nokia 770 (IT OS 2006) and N800 (IT OS 2007). After installing and rebooting, Audio Player (and other applications) should play your .ogg-files just fine.

files on the device. This shows that OGG support is technically possible and, by utilizing the DSP, it could even be implemented more efficient. My CPU-only implementation causes about 20% CPU load for playing in CD quality. I'm going to add a little GUI and provide an installer package for my OGG player soon. Regards, Martin
