MadWifi supports the use of the Wireless Extensions ioctls equal to or greater than WE18 (linux 2.6.15). When using wpa_supplicant with a recent linux kernel, it is preferred to use the 'wext' driver backend, rather than the private MadWifi ioctls.

Hi, developers~ today i tested dfs function using madwifi-dfs source. i used recent version of code in madwifi-dfs. though there were some problems related with radar pattern, it works anyway. ... Besides, the version of HAL used in MadWifi 0.9.4 may be limited with regard to DFS support. Ticket #1889 suggests that we may be encountering a node ...

Apr 23, 2016 · Dynamic Frequency Selection was added with commit 99d3879. Several users reported in issue #57 that DFS was not working properly and that the router's radio was always reverting to channel 36, regardless of there actually being RADAR or not. @yuhhaurlin closed the issue for a lack of response.. DFS support is currently still not working like it should on OpenWRT.

Wi-Fi networking provides us with 2 bands for the operation of wireless LAN networks: the 2.4Ghz band and the 5GHz band. The 2.4GHz band has a reputation of being something of a “sewer” of a band, due to its limited number of usable channels, the number of Wi-Fi devices already using the band, and the high levels of non-Wi-Fi interference that it experiences.

The newer HAL 0.9.30.13 used in the trunk and MadWifi-dfs branch does NOT react on this patch and ANI stays on and causes sensitivity problems. This is really a pity because I would rather use the new HAL with better DFS support and lots of other fixes.
