We also WILL NOT support pirated copies, demo versions or modified installs. We ship all our products with a support CD and MACH profiles and screens for our equipment.

me and afew of the guys are planning or have already converted our XCarves to use LinuxCNC/MachineKit . it is very similar to Mach3 but free and opensource. its not for the faint of heart but neither is Mach3. you will have to do some substantial upgrades including a new driver board (Arduino+GShield replacement) and stepper drivers (Gshield replacement)

MACH3 is a combined GRBL and UGS. It generates the pulses and The reason why you need a USB adapter is because the USB bus cannot handle the real-time pulse generation that MACH3 does because it’s a digital bus. The old parallel ports were purely analog signals that MACH3 can use to do the waveform generation.
