Dec 02, 2012 · Typical use of a loop device is to attach a virtual node in unix. If you caught my posts last year on running Ubuntu in parallel with Android on my phone, I did that by getting an image file of Ubuntu and assigning it to a loop device.

Jan 02, 2017 · It would be nice if the support for loop devices could be implemented. I'd like to mount disk backup images from broken systems to extract the data, but this does not work without supporting loop devices to represent the single partitions inside the disk.
