Jul 22, 2011 · Ever since the release of OS X 10.6.8, Apple has been selectively enabling the TRIM command for SSDs in OS X. This support continues on in Mac OS X Lion, as well as Mountain Lion, and even OS X Mavericks, but as many have noted, it only seems to work for Apple SSDs.

Jun 30, 2012 · Google 'enable trim os x' and you'll find tools that will make the appropriate change which allow any SSD to use Lion's TRIM support, or you'll also find the commands to enter in Terminal to accomplish the same thing. If you use one of the tools, be sure it's the latest version, as there's at least one older version that did the patch incorrectly.
