My product key was 15 characters with dashes as yours would be. i had on my steam 5 boxes to type in the product key so i knew it wasnt going to work. i thought it was the game itself so i took the game back for a replacement.

Jun 28, 2013 · In Lion, the Library folder is hidden so you won't see your Steam folder. If you don't want to mess around with the registry or enter Terminal commands, you can simply go to the "GO" menu, select Go To Folder, and enter: ~/Library You should now be able to see the Steam folder, and the registry.vdf file inside that.

Another thing: when you reinstalled did you restart your Mac between uninstalling and reinstalling? I've had issues with some Steam service not getting terminated which causes problems. It's rare. Maybe three times in six years.
