It seems that current libavcodec version used in VLC 1.1.2 and VLC 1.1.3 Win32 builds misidentify certain files. For example if one tries to open .png or .iso files, libavcodec always says they are MP3 audio. Because of this PNG and ISO files won't work (there are prolly other filetypes that have this same issue). Sample log from .png playback.
