AM335x JFFS2 Support Guide - Texas Instruments Wiki

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335x_JFFS2_Support_Guide
On AM335x, JFFS2 support has been super-seeded by UBIFS. Reasons for disabling JFFS2 support UBIFS file system is recommended for NAND File system over JFFS2 as it is seen as JFFS2 successor with significant improvements in scalability and NAND support.

Memory Technology Device (MTD) Subsystem for Linux.

    http://linux-mtd.infradead.org/doc/nand.html
JFFS2 supports raw NAND chips and SmartMediaCards at the moment. A JFFS2 support for DiskOnChip devices, based on the NAND code, is planned. There are some other Open Source projects for NAND filesystem support, but there's no other working solution than JFFS, YAFFS, and UBIFS at the moment of this writing. YAFFS is available from YAFFS-Homepage. YAFFS is faster than JFFS2 and consumes less RAM, JFFS2 …

JFFS2 - Wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JFFS2
JFFS2 introduced: Support for NAND flash devices. This involved a considerable amount of work as NAND devices have a sequential I/O interface and cannot be memory-mapped for reading.Introduced: September 23, 2001 with Linux 2.4.10

Nov 18, 2010 · mkfs.jffs2 -lqn -e128 -s2048 -p0x20000 -r ~/dm368/dvrfs -o rfs.jffs2. I also use u-boot to erase the section of the nand reserved for the jffs2 partition. Then I write the JFFS2 RFS to the nand from Linux after mounting. John A

JFFS2 support The FreeBSD Forums

    https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/jffs2-support.65384/
May 12, 2018 · In my experience Linux provides character device for jffs2/UBIFS, or block device for regular filesystems (ext2, etc.). Seems like FreeBSD supports cfi(4) (NOR) and nand(4) devices and creates a GEOM device and you can put ufs on top of it. But jffs2/UBIFS is probably better and easier on the flash when read-write.

NAND - Memory Technology Device (MTD) Subsystem for Linux.

    http://linux-mtd.infradead.org/faq/nand.html
The JFFS2 code, which handles the write-buffer and the out of band (spare) area of NAND doesn't support 32 bit neither. How do I erase my MTD partition on NAND flash? flash_erase (erase one eraseblock) or flash_eraseall utilities may be used. If you are going to use this partition with JFFS2, then it is recommended to use -j or --jffs2 options. This will write the so called "clean-marker" to the out of …

filesystems - Linux: Alternative to UBIFS on MLC NAND ...

    https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/448581/linux-alternative-to-ubifs-on-mlc-nand
So I am now looking for a long term filesystem replacement for a MLC NAND as found on a MIPS Creator CI20: CI20_Hardware: ROM/NAND; This is a Samsung K9GBG08UOA NAND flash and it does not appear that there is a way to put this device in SLC mode. It seems that jffs2 is also not an alternative: jffs2: do not support the MLC nand
