Jul 12, 2009 · Filing a feature request in Jira for XPDL on top of the PVM doen by the jBPM project is useles, it will not be supported. But filing a jira issue for support of executable BPMN2 (once that stabilises) is an option. Gathering votes on it will help getting it priotitized.

Apr 13, 2010 · The only execution languages supported by jBPM 4.x are jPDL and BPMN 2.0 (not finished yet). If you are looking for an open source XPDL-engine then there is Bonita and jBPM 3.x also offers a BPEL-engine. However BPEL support has been dropped and the new Riftsaw project (based up-on Apache ODE) is addressing BPEL support.

Feb 03, 2011 · The first one is Eclipse jBPM/jPDL 4 editor which is nice, but it's very close to the developer world. It doesn't support the swimming pools, swimming lanes, timers, messaging and so on. So it's not fully BPMN editor, but rather a jPDL editor.

Oct 21, 2004 · 2) XPDL Support JBPM currently has no (active maintained) graphical workflow designer. If XPDL would be supported one could use some independent designer tool. This is mostly a marketing point but most customers expect to see a graphical designer if you talk about workflow. Two fold answer. First about XPDL support.

Nov 15, 2007 · JBoss and the jBPM editor were the next on the list. This editor was every bit as good as the Intalio editor. It contains all the BPMN specification symbols and rules. The non-standard part of the mix is that the jBPM editor saves the diagrams as jPDL, which is similar to XPDL but more Java centric.

jPDL used to be the process definition language of the jBoss jBPM product until version 4 of it. Since version 5 of that product (which was a reimplementation from ground up) this product also supports BPMN as its process model and notation of choice.
