Jul 19, 2005 · Testing to see what works isn't always the best approach. Suppose one image format is supported by one Java implementation, and not another? It's better to find the answer within the documentation, as this is the contract that all implementations must fulfill. java.awt.Toolkit.getImage() javadoc says that it supports only GIF, JPG, PNG. No mention of BMP.
