I'm actually hoping for the same thing. I do understand that using the Japanese iOS keyboard would work, however switching between two different keyboards and input method feels awkward. I would really love Japanese support for iOS SwiftKey. Especially if Android already has this feature.

I have English, Chinese, Japanese and German enabled. I find the keyboard in general rather laggy for me, but nothing unbearable. The exception is Japanese, which I am virtually unable to use, both because of extreme lag and because the keyboard can't seem to handle simple phrases or words and will stop showing suggestions.
