The ISEL-12 includes only abbreviated (4-item) versions of the appraisal, belonging, and tangible subscales. In general, the entire scale is used as an indicator of total perceived support. However, individual subscales are sometimes used to identify the specific type of support that may be most influential for a given outcome.
