Jul 03, 2007 · Does iPhone support WPA-PSK authentication? If so, does it support TKIP encryption? I'm having a heck of a time trying to set up my work network on the iPhone, though my MacBook Pro handles it just fine.

May 04, 2009 · Router is Linksys WAG54g V.3 and router security is set as WAP-PSK, and iPhone sees the SSID but whenever i type in password (accurately), it still cannot connect. If i choose 'other' type of network and type SSID Name in manually, then i get to choose security type (in iPhone, but only choices are none/WEP/WPA/WAP2 plus th eenterprise ones).

My first thought was that the iPad 2 could not connect because I had setup the security to WPA2-PSK with AES encryption. I went ahead and quickly changed the security on my wireless router to WPA with TKIP and the iPad 2 connected!! That was great, but I was still surprised that the iPad 2 would not support WPA2.

Re: WPA + TKIP end of support The issue with WPA/TKIP is that client will not be able to connect using 802.11ac as WPA2/AES is a requirement. When migrating off WPA/TKIP to WPA2/AES, you don’t just add this to an existing wlan, but in stead you create a new WLAN that has the same SSID, but a different WLAN profile name.

Jan 07, 2013 · That said, my iPhone 5 is running on WPA with TKIP just fine. Our work network is the same as well and it also does just fine there too (despite the fact my boss is too cheap to pay for faster internet).

If you have older Wi-Fi devices that don't support WPA2 Personal (AES), a good second choice is WPA/WPA2 Mode, also known as WPA Mixed Mode. This mode allows newer devices to use the stronger WPA2 AES encryption, while still allowing older devices to connect with older WPA TKIP-level encryption.
