The installation command install nopcmcia will install and disable PCMCIA detection. Use this option only if the standard installation runs into trouble identifying PCMCIA devices attached to the target machine.

PCMCIA is, electrically, very much like ISA, and Cardbus is very much like PCI. The PD6729 is a PCMCIA controller that interfaces with the CPU via PCI. The 2.4 Linux kernel handles PCMCIA-to-ISA and Cardbus-to-PCI, but doesn't like PCMCIA-to-PCI. It can be done, using the pcmcia-cs package, but I don't think IPCop uses it.

Oct 29, 2009 · But, using the information from pingtest.net it seems the problem (when compared to other firewall distros, IPCop is my standard go to at the moment) is IPFire for some reason introduces a lot of latency. For instance using IPCop my worst ping out of the 5 locations I try (the same 5 I try on IPFire) is 59ms, 19ms jitter and no packetloss.
