Mobile IP (or MIP) is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard communications protocol that is designed to allow mobile device users to move from one network to another while maintaining a permanent IP address. Mobile IP for IPv4 is described in IETF RFC 5944, and extensions are defined in IETF RFC 4721. Mobile IPv6, the IP mobility implementation for the next generation of the ...

IPv6 mobility support solves this problem. IPv6 mobility enables a mobile node to move from one link to another link without changing the mobile node's IP address. IPv6 mobility assigns an IP address to the mobile node within its home subnet prefix on its home link. This address is …

RFC 3344 IP Mobility Support for IPv4 August 2002 Home Agent A router on a mobile node's home network which tunnels datagrams for delivery to the mobile node when it is away from home, and maintains current location information for the mobile node. Foreign Agent A router on a mobile node's visited network which provides routing services to the mobile node while registered.Cited by: 3285

mobile-ip . In our environment we do not need layer 3 roaming, and all AP’s that support a building all terminate to the same controller. We currently do NOT have Mobile IP enabled but we DO have Mobile IP and VLAN Mobility enabled. I don’t think we want either one of these enabled, and am wondering if having these enabled might be a bad idea.

Jan 21, 2018 · An MN can be an IPv4-only node, an IPv6-only node, or a dual-stack node, which is a node with IPv4 and IPv6 protocol stacks. An MN is not required to participate in any IP mobility-related signaling for achieving mobility for an IP address or a prefix that is obtained in the Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) domain. IP Mobility Requirements . The requirements for an IP mobility solution can be generalized to a few key aspects. To make a fair comparison of existing solutions and clearly understand the added benefit of the LISP Host Mobility solution, we will quickly touch on the different functional aspects that must be addressed in an IP mobility solution ...
