DX58SO ECC Ram support with Xeon? - Intel® Community Forum

But how about ECC ram? The documentation seems to be outdated and only explain about the core i7(which I know doesn't support ECC), it says it support NON ECC but it was originally written before the nehalem xeon came out, so it might not be accurate. Does the motherboard support for ECC matter for the new nehalem architecture or the cpu only?

May 12, 2016 · I often see that Xeon CPUs support ECC RAM. However, Core i7 CPUs don't. Do Xeon CPUs support non-ECC RAMs? Or is it only for Core series processors? About unbuffered and buffered, what does it change exactly? Is it about performance or reliability? Is it mandatory in some cases? Regards, DeltaSM4.8/5(14)
